DiseaseBuddy is a science and health information platform focused on making diseases easier to understand.
The website explores infectious and non-infectious diseases, disease history, outbreaks, symptoms, causes, diagnosis, prevention, treatment, epidemiology, and public health impact. It combines scientific information with clear writing, timelines, infographics, and visual storytelling to make complex disease-related topics more accessible to a wider audience.
Built on a foundation of microbiology, biotechnology, and public health, DiseaseBuddy aims to connect scientific knowledge with everyday understanding—helping readers explore not only what a disease is, but also where it came from, how it spreads, how it affects communities, and how science responds to it.
The Founder
Sarbesh Rijal is the Founder of this platform, a disease-focused science communication initiative dedicated to making information about diseases easier to understand, explore, and share. With a B.Sc. in Microbiology, M.Sc. in Biotechnology, and Master of Research (MRes) in Public Health, Sarbesh brings together knowledge from microbiology, biomedical science, and public health to explore diseases from different perspectives.
The platform focuses primarily on diseases, infectious diseases, outbreaks, epidemiology, disease history, symptoms, diagnosis, prevention, treatment, and their wider public health impact. It aims to present scientific and health information in a way that is accurate, clear, accessible, and engaging. Science communication, scientific writing, science infographics, visual storytelling, timelines, and data visualization serve as supplementary tools to communicate these topics effectively. Complex scientific information and research are translated into simpler narratives and visuals without losing their essential scientific context.
Sarbesh believes that understanding diseases is not limited to knowing their symptoms or treatment. Their history, causes, transmission, epidemiology, prevention, societal impact, and the science behind them are equally important. As the platform grows, it will bring together contributors and experts from different scientific and health-related backgrounds, creating a collaborative space for exploring diseases and the science surrounding them.
The mission is simple: to make disease-related science easier to understand, one disease, one story, and one visual at a time.
